Partum Engineering worked with AtkinsRéalis to provide some early engineering pre-feasibility work for a design associated with the 33kV overhead powerline network for Callide Windfarm.
Included in the design was:
- 45km of twin bundle 33kV OHL Line modelling with PLS_CADD
- Pole and Conductor Schedule
- Hi Level Bill of Quantities (Assembly Level)
- Typical Pole General Arrangement Drawings
- Basis of Design Criteria
Challenges Overcome
- Challenging Terrian and vegetation
- Extensive Network of backbone and spur lines and tee-offs
- Assessing Direct Buried vs Base plate mounted poles due to loading on poles
Solution
- Assessed terrain and undertook profile modelling to determine powerline bay lengths and pole heights to manage ground clearances
- Implemented base plate mounted poles
