We currently have an exciting opportunity for a motivated, senior electrical engineer to join us at the Burswood Head Office, specialising in Secondary Systems. Experience in Substations is desirable. We are looking for a self-motivated and hardworking team-player, who is passionate about their work with an obsession for quality. You will enjoy working as part of a team but have an ability to work autonomously when required to ensure that jobs are completed on time and to customer requirements.
About you:
To be successful in this role, you will:
- Have previous experience in Electrical Engineering (minimum 5 years’ experience).
- Degree in Electrical Engineering
- Have familiarity with AS/NZS wiring and panel regulations.
- Have an ability to read and understand single line diagrams and wiring diagrams.
- Adhere to all Work Health & Safety and Quality requirements.
- Determine the type and arrangement of circuits, transformers, circuit-breakers, transmission lines and other equipment.
- Develop distribution Board solutions for AC and DC systems, including sizing of associated cables.
- Interpret specifications, drawings, standards, and regulations relating to electric power equipment and use.
- Have previous experience in panel design.
- Have and understanding of substation primary equipment and basic protection functions for substations (desirable).
- Have a keen eye for detail, and a focus on quality and performance.
- Have clear and strong communication skills with an ability to produce high quality well-structured technical reports documenting study findings, results and recommendations.
- Be able to work on multiple projects concurrently, some with short delivery timeframes.
- Have advanced IT proficiency and computer literacy
- Be willing to attend site from time to time for data collection, asset assessments, inspections, and commissioning support.

- Be willing to undergo a medical (including drug and alcohol test).
You will be involved across the end-to-end engineering process. Duties include but are not limited to:
- Secondary electrical design of distribution, sub-transmission & transmission substations.
- Preparation of protection philosophy documentation, AC and DC system sizing and CT/VT calculations.
- Design technical skills in the areas of: single line diagrams, logic diagrams, cables schedules panel general arrangements, schematics and terminations and protection device selection.
- Preferably, experience with providing conceptual and detailed design services for SCADA and network communications including control functional descriptions, topologies, block diagrams, integrating fire and security systems, cables schedules, signal lists, panels and device selection.
- Maintaining expected current design standards as set by legislative requirements.
- Ensure engineering design is compliant with client requirements and all relevant Australian and international standards.
- Interacts closely with internal teams to ensure that project needs, and objectives are met.
Your Qualifications and Skills:
- University Degree in Electrical Engineering
- experience in the transmission secondary engineering and design
- Preferably, experience in SCADA and network communications design and engineering.
- Testing and commissioning experience desired.
- Proactive, decisive, and analytical coupled with strong problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Team player, collaborative with other staff and open-sharing of knowledge.
- Sound knowledge of engineering standards and client specifications.
- Ability to effectively communicate at all levels of the organisation and in all forms.
- Experience with working on remote sites as the position requires travel to project sites and / or client premises.
